2014 Mazda CX-5 Review: The Perfect Balance In Fuel Economy, Comfort & Power

What is there not to like about the latest Mazda CX-5? It is powerful, comfortable, stylish and more importantly, fuel efficient. Simply said, the CX-5 is the best all-rounder SUV around at the moment.

The design in particular is something very new from Mazda. The Japanese carmaker actually implements the new Kodo styling language on the CX-5 which features a trapezoidal unit with the eagle eyed headlights on the side. Also, there is that hallmark smiley face on the front that is built through a curvy grille which shapes the smile.

The CX-5 is offered with two engine options. One is the SkyActiv D 2.2 liter diesel mill while the other is the SkyActiv G 2.0liter gasoline motor. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission although there is an option of an automatic. In terms of performance, the SUV offers 155hp and 148lbs-ft of torque while also returning 26mpg in the city and 35mpg on the highway.

The CX-5 can be said as a moving fortress as well. This is due to its many safety features which include side, dual front, full-length side-curtain airbags, tire-pressure monitoring system and stability control systems. The SE-L trim is one of the 4 trims available and will come with additional features like powers window, Bluetooth, dual zone climate control and cruise control.

All in all, the CX-5 is unmatched on every front by its competitors. Heck, the SUV was named as the winner of the Car of The Year 2013 Best SUV award too.
