2014 Mazda 3 Review: SkyActiv Technology Takes Price Tag Sky High

Mazda has already launched the all-new Mazda 3 and it is already nominated as one of the best compact sedans in the world today. Despite that face, sales of the vehicle has been at snail pace due to the high price tag on the car.

Mazda defended their decision with the car’s pricing, claiming it to be justified. This is due to the SkyActiv technology that comes with the Mazda 3 and it is described as a new system that enhances performance, handling and more importantly, fuel consumption.

Surprisingly, the Mazda 3 stayed true to its description as the car offers great handling yet keeping fuel consumption at its lowest. Heck, the Mazda 3 might just be the most fuel efficient vehicle in its class.

Unfortunately, the Mazda 3 is still not perfect as it comes with its own set of drawbacks. First of all, the sedan is poorly insulated. Even when cruising at 60km/h, we can hear the loud road noise created from the tyres.

In addition to that, the Mazda 3 SkyActiv technology is simply to focused in offering the best gas mileage around. This results in the car letting of an underpowered feel. We actually have to floor the gas pedal just to force the ponies out.

With that being said, we feel that the Mazda 3 is not worth its tag. On the other hand, it is still a better car than most of its rival.
