The latest Mazda 3 might have enjoyed a successful launch but the vehicle’s sales have been rather slow. It seems that many consumers were afraid to give the Mazda 3 a shot due to its hefty price tag of RM138,935.
For a subcompact vehicle, the Mazda 3 might be a little too expensive. Mazda claims that the reason for the high charges was due to the SkyActiv technology, which tremendously improves handling and efficiency.
Well, there is no wrong with that statement as the SkyActiv technology truly lived up to its description. When test-driving the car, the Mazda 3 is able to take on every corners and bends with ease and precision while maintaining fuel consumption of up to 9.5L/100km. This is quite impressive since the Mazda 3 comes with a big 2L engine.
On the downside of things, the Mazda 3 failed to offer great power. The sluggish engine found it hard to reach for the high RPM. In short, the mill under the Mazda 3’s hood is totally underpowered.
In terms of comfort, the Mazda 3 continues to disappoint. Just like its predecessor, the car failed to mute the noise coming from the hood and the outside of the vehicle. Even the plastic felt too hard for our liking.
Then again, the Mazda 3 has got some style as it arrived with a bright red paint and the smiling grille that leaves other carmakers in envy.
In conclusion, the Mazda 3 is a decent vehicle to own but considering its price and rivals, it is best to leave the car in the showroom and opt for something else instead. We highly recommend the Ford Focus, Toyota Altis or Honda Civic as they are all cheaper and got so much more to offer.
