2014 Ford Focus Review: Downsized Engine Offers Upsized Power

The Ford Focus has been refreshed with a brand new model this year and it is more beautiful and sporty than ever before. For the first time ever, the Focus is equipped with the hallmark Aston Martin Grille, much like the Fiesta hatchback.

In detail, the Focus comes with more stylish headlights, fog lamps on the bumper and new taillights. Of course, the biggest change from its predecessor is the 8” colour touchscreen where all the switches can be controlled from.

Even the engines are changed to a smaller capacity version. Instead of the usual 1.6L Ecoboost, the new Focus runs on the 1.5L Ecoboost. For those who care too much about the environment can opt for the 1L Ecoboost like those on the Fiesta.

The 1.5L mill, in particular, offers 180hp that is identical to the previous 1.6L motor. Certainly, this is an upgrade from the predecessor. Also, the engine returns 51.4mpg instead of 47.9mpg. With such statistics, it is no wonder that the Focus offers a more responsive, flexible and powerful experience when driving the vehicle.

Despite being something new, the Focus can be purchased from just £13,995. Of course, that is the quotation for the entry level model. The 1.5L Ecoboost variant has a price tag of £23,520.
