While the Samsung Galaxy Nexus appears to be selling like hotcakes on Verizon Wireless, the Motorola DROID RAZR with its amazing hardware will no doubt be seen flying off shelves. Unfortunately for HTC though, its Rezound appears to be overshadowed by both these giants. And with the possibility of an iPhone 5 coming in a couple of months, HTC will certainly need to step up their game in a big way if they wish to attract Verizon customers.
HTC Edge to take on Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Motorola DROID RAZR & iPhone 5?
So what does HTC have planned for in the near future? The HTC Edge. We’ve heard about this Android smartphone a few times in the past month or so and as more details come to light, the bigger of a threat it seems to be for the current top smartphones on Big Red. Now, a tipster has revealed to BGR the following specs for the Edge:
The HTC Edge will be the first smartphone to feature Nvidia’s monster quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB storage, measure in at just 8.8mm thin, boast a 4.7-inch 720p screen using the latest in S-LCD technology (and optical lamination to make the screen appear like its floating), NFC and a 1800mAh battery. Other details which we heard earlier and are now being ‘reconfirmed’ are the 8-megapixel rear camera and 720p front cam, Beats Audio and Sense 4.0 running on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Overall the HTC Edge appears to be a solid device and may be just what the Taiwanese company needs to shape up after the losses reported in Q4 2011.
