While Android smartphones have the best widgets out there for any smartphone on the market right now, the mobile platform doesn’t really take advantage of its pull-down notification tray. So we were asked by readers which were some good notification bar apps/widgets that would not only be handy since you can access them inside any application but also in a way to clear up cluttered homescreens.
We scoured the Android Market and came up with only a couple worthy of mentioning. One is for leaving quick reminders for yourself and the other two are toggles and leaving custom shortcuts to your most used apps:
Best Android apps and widgets that reside in your notification bar
StatusNote: Add quick notes and reminders to your status bar while using any application! The original notification note / status note / status bar note app!
Notification Toggle: Turn on WiFi, Bluetooth, Flashlight and much more from your notification bar! Notification Toggle creates notifications in the Android status bar to let you quickly switch WiFi, Bluetooth, Silent mode, Screen rotation and Flight mode on and off or to adjust the screen brightness (and many more…). You can also add shortcut to your own apps right into the notification bar.
Widgetsoid2.x: Switcher toggle, clock, battery, network, wifi level, shortcuts and much more in your notification tray.
If we missed out any other great apps or widgets that live in your pull-down notification tray then do sound off in the comments below!
