The AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G hit the US around May last year and at the time buyers were promised that an Android Gingerbread update would eventually arrive for the big-screened Android.
AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G Android Gingerbread update now available
Given that the Samsung Nexus S and the HTC Google Nexus One both had their fix of Android Gingerbread at around that time, Samsung Infuse 4G owners expected a couple of months of waiting. However that couple of months has now stretched to 9 months. That’s right, AT&T is now rolling out Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread for the Infuse 4G.
Now if you’ve been following the Gingerbread releases from the past few months then you will be well aware of what the update brings to the table (e.g. improved copy and paste, new keyboard, better power management, download manager and new cool new widgets.
Of course, given that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has now been officially confirmed for a number of Samsung devices (e.g. Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note) and is also already on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, we’re not sure if the same level of hype that was originally behind the Gingerbread update is still there for Infuse 4G owners.
Take note that this is not an OTA update so make sure you have the latest version of Kies Mini in order to upgrade.
