While Android smartphones continue to have their screen sizes increased (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Note), the iPhone has remained at 3.5-inches since the very beginning. Now according to a report from 9to5Mac, we may finally see that change.
Report: iPhone 5 screen size above 4″, release date sometime this summer
9to5Mac reports that a source at Foxconn (Apple’s manufacturer) has told them that the next iPhone is set for production and a few demo handsets have surfaced on the factory floors, each slightly different than the next.
What they do have in common though is that the screen sizes are 4-inches or bigger; the form factor is a longer and wider symmetrical shape (not teardrop as previously suggested); and they do not resembe the iPhone 4S / 4 design.
Given that 9to5Mac rumors have a somewhat steady track record, we wouldn’t be surprised if these details may come true this summer. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
