Owners of the Motorola Atrix 2 will be jumping around for joy today as an official OTA update of Ice Cream Sandwich for the once popular Android phone has been leaked. The leak comes from CheeseCake which is a tool that allows users to check for updates on the service of Motorola.
Official Motorola Atrix 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update leaked
In an explanation from contact Manoj it was said that during the planning stage a phone is checked to find out if it is capable of receiving an update. Motorola gives priority to handsets that are in line with the Google Nexus benchmark score.
Following this is a development stage where the programming is put into action and this means that developers are able to contribute and share their builds of updates. CheeseCake is an app that has been devised specifically for Motorola phones to check development servers and contact the handset which allows for a developers build to be installed. At the time of the checking the handset sends a line of code which then goes past security checks and which allows direct connection with the servers of the developers.
This is how the leak for the Atrix 2 was found which is an almost ready to release version of Ice Cream Sandwich.
It seems that the leaked build is working great and at the moment there has not been any indication of an OTA release. Root users however may want to take a look at Ice Cream Sandwich for the Atrix 2 and they can get their hands on it over at XDA Developers.
