At the recent WWDC event, Apple kept very quiet about the upcoming iPhone 5, or did they? According to the Examiner, when they announced the upcoming iOS 6, they indirectly also gave a hint about the new iPhone 5 release date.
iPhone 5 release date confirmed via iOS 6 autumn release plans shown on Apple site’s iOS 6 page?
Some people say that Apple all but confirmed that they would release a new iPhone 5 during the autumn. Why? Well this is when Apple will roll out the new operating system. What better time could there be to release a new phone then with their latest OS? Apple has said that the new operating system is to have around 200 new features in it, albeit some of these will just be minor features. Apple should release the handset with this new OS as the phone would then have these 200 new features on it out of the box, which would give the Samsung Galaxy S3 list of features serious competition.
One of the new features is Apple`s own maps app and this sees the end of what has been five years of an Apple and Google partnership, thanks to them dropping Google Maps. If the new iPhone is released with the new OS it would have features such as turn by turn navigation and this is one of the main things Samsung pushed in ads to show off that it was better than the iPhone. So no longer would Samsung be able to use this against Apple.
For now all we can do is speculate whether Apple really did give us a big clue about the release date for the latest iPhone with the announcement of iOS6. Of course you also have to take into account that when a new iPhone was launched it always had a major OS update that accompanied it (all 5 models to date), hence Examiner’s assumptions.
