The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been dubbed as being the iPhone killer and it does seem to have an impact on the sales of the iPhone 4S. It is thought that the phone will have been released on around 300 carriers in more than 150 countries by the end of this month. Samsung have suggested that they will sell around 10 million handsets.

Apple meanwhile is set to release their latest handset, which is being called the iPhone 5 by the media, and there has been a great deal of speculation about the phone. Apple has not yet released an official date for the phone but rumors suggest that this could be as early as August. This would be just 10 months following the release of the iPhone 4S. One of the reasons this might happen is the growing challenge that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has given them. The folks over at AutoWorldNews have pitted the Samsung Galaxy S3 specs versus those that have been rumored for the iPhone 5, surprisingly finding that the S3 still appears to have an edge. Specs of course are not the only thing which determines the better phone, but the S3 does seems to come out on top over the iPhone 5 when it comes to hardware, if rumors are to be believed. The S3 comes with different storage choices and processors which are dependent on country and carriers. The US version of the handset has the dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor and is available with 16GB or 32GB of storage.
The iPhone 5 has been rumored to have an A6 quad core which also happens to be 1.5GHz and which would team up alongside the iOS 6 operating system. If rumors are to be believed the handset would also have support for 4G LTE.
It is also thought that the screen size will be 4 inches and of course it will have the Retina display. On the other hand the S3 has a superb 4.8 inch screen which is HD Super AMOLED. If you like a large screen then the S3 will win you over. The Retina display of the iPhone would have 367ppi while the S3 has 310ppi. The S3 is not only larger than the iPhone 4S but it is thinner too so there are chances that it will outslim the iPhone 5 as well.
Analysts have speculated that Samsung will be able to sell even more of the devices during Q3 of 2012 which would leave Apple with a big challenge when they launch the iPhone 5 in competition.
