Samsung and Apple are in contention with each other over the best smartphone this year. At the moment the Samsung Galaxy S3 has all the glory but will the iPhone 5 be able to stop the S3 in its tracks when it is announced?

Samsung have the edge over Apple as of course the iPhone 5 has not yet been released. However some individuals considering buying a new phone are hanging back despite the S3 being a fantastic handset. Why? Because of the iPhone’s track record to date.
Of course, many are saying that Samsung will have nothing to worry about as the S3 will remain on top of the iPhone 5 despite what Apple may do with it. The phone is packed with features and specs which includes a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with ppi of 310, special S-features and buttery smooth operation. The iPhone 5 is expected to be released with a screen no bigger than 4-inches and it is thought that the Retina display will have 367ppi. The S3 comes with the Snapdragon dual core processor from Qualcomm which is clocked at 1.4 GHz in the US, making it the fastest handset currently on the market. It is thought that the iPhone 5 may have the A5X chip, but if it does comes with 4G LTE support, it may have to rely on a dual core processor as well.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has Android 4.0 ICS which can now be considered ‘outdated’ as Android 4.1 JellyBean begins to rollout to some devices later this month. On the other hand the iPhone 5 should be released with iOS 6, which was revealed at the WWDC. This would give it features such as Photo Stream and Guided Access mode and the Reading List would sync over the 3G connection.
In regards to software the Samsung Galaxy S3 has the S- range of apps including Smart Stay, S Voice, S beam and it comes with Pop up Play. iOS 6 should give the new iPhone 5 more than 200 new features which will means it is chasing the S3 all the way in regards to software.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 can be purchased with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage and has an SD card slot with expansion up to 64GB. The iPhone 5 may be available with storage choices that are similar, however it will be let down by a lack of SD card expansion.
In conclusion, user preference will be the deciding factor in which of the phones takes the crown as being the best given that they both looks geared to be equally as powerful. But for now the Samsung Galaxy S3 remains on its pedestal. That is until the release of the iPhone 5 and then only time will tell whether it will live up to the hype.
