Will Apple be able to beat Samsung despite the head start and grounbreaking hardware that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has to offer? According to iTechPost, the Galaxy S3 from Samsung boasts an excellent design and comes with innovative features which have helped it win the hearts of millions of smartphone users around the world. At the moment there is nothing out there to come close to the handset, so when Apple releases their anticipated iPhone 5, how will it be able to beat the Samsung Galaxy S3?
iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3
So what exactly will the new iPhone 5 have to match up to? The Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen offering 310ppi and 1280 x 720. It is thought that the screen of the new iPhone 5 may be 4 inches and have a Retina Display with 367 ppi and 1280 x 720 resolution. So it is basically smaller with similar resolution but higher pixel density (at 310ppi though, the Galaxy S3 suffices)
Moving on, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a Snapdragon dual core processor that is clocked at 1.4 GHz in the US, making it the fastest phone in the nation. The Apple iPhone 5 may come with a faster A5X chip and quad core, however given that it will purportedly boast 4G LTE connectivity, it will be interesting to see if this comes true or if Apple is also forced to settle for dual-core processors like Samsung had to.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the latest OS out at the moment and the iPhone 5 will also have the latest OS when it comes out given that rumors peg its release in October (same time when iOS 6 is expected to be released). So both phones are up to date.
The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 8 megapixel with zero shutter lag. There are rumors that the iPhone 5 may come with a 3D imaging camera for stills and video. Personally we can’t see that happening as 3D camera technology isn’t as highly sought after as manufacturers would hope (e.g. HTC EVO 3D). Storage wise the Galaxy S3 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions and it is thought that the iPhone will comes with similar choices, but no SD card option like the S3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes packed with features which include S Voice, S Beam, Pop up Play and Smart Stay while the iPhone 5 may have apps and features such as Siri 2.0, Face Unlock, Universal remote control and more given that Apple states there are 200 new features in iOS 6.
Of course when purchasing a device, the best device for you, depends on your personal choices and preferences. The S3 is a superb handset and Apple may have to bring out some vast changes with the new iPhone 5 if it is to beat the S3 after its later release. Until October at least, the Samsung Galaxy S3 still wears the crown and we wouldn’t hesitate getting one if your upgrade is has arrived.
