For a long time there were rumors that the next Android update to 4.1 would be called Jelly Bean, and now we know for sure as a statue of Jelly Bean has been erected on the Google Campus in the usual tradition.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean now official despite Ice Cream Sandwich still missing from most phones
Photos were posted earlier this morning which showed the team erecting the statue, and another has been recently posted showing the statue completed and in all its glory. So with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean statue having arrived at Google’s campus all we have to do is wait for tomorrow to come around.
And as expected, now that it is official the next question on the lips of everyone is which will be the first non-Nexus device to get the JellyBean update? The Motorola DROID RAZR is only just getting Ice Cream Sandwich and Rezound should get the same within the next few weeks, while several devices have had it for a while and some are still waiting for it.
Strong contenders include the Transformer Prime and the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is being launched around the world with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Maybe some of the devices which have just got the ICS update will see a quick turnaround? We will just have to wait and see.
