AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS Update: Get It Right Now

It may have been a false start for the update to ICS for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 on AT&T, but according to AndroidPolice it looks like the long awaited ICS update is now officially and readily available.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS update now available

The update was available for a short while a few days ago through the Kies update software of Samsung, and then they pulled the plug on it saying that they were only testing. However users now over at XDA have managed to successfully install the update on stock devices through Kies and it looks like this will be the only way to get the update as it will not be available over the air. It seems that Samsung have chosen the old fashioned method of updating by plugging the handset into the computer and using desktop software. The version of the update that is now listed on the Kies software is the same as the one that was taken down the other day.

Tere are many reasons to upgrade which do make it worthwhile taking the old fashioned route of plugging your handset into your computer. The AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS update offers user enhancements; redesigned apps and various bugs have been fixed. Users will have the new TouchWiz interface, but unfortunately none of the S3 features have been back ported to the S2.

So while it may seem cumbersome to have to use Kies to get the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS update, the good news is that you won’t have to wait any longer for it since you can initiate it right away by yourself!
