iPhone 5th Anniversary Next Week, Befits iPhone 5 Launch

It has been almost five years since the first iPhone was released. It was in stores at 6pm on 29th June 2007 and since then the marketing machine that is Apple had managed to generate a deafening buzz around the iPhone.

iPhone’s 5th anniversary perfect time for an iPhone 5 announcement

The first ever ad for the phone was shown in the break of the Oscar ceremony on 25th Feb and featured clips of more than 32 actors and actresses saying the word “hello” or a variation, followed by a photo of the device and the words onscreen “Coming in June”.

When mid-June of 2007 came around there had been four ads for the iPhone shown with perhaps the most iconic being the one showing the handset and a finger swiping the screen to show how the device works. Another famous ad was based around the words “This is how” explaining such as this is your music, this is your email and this is the web. While another boasted the iPhone’s browser, saying “this is not a watered down version of the internet, or the mobile version of the internet, or the kind that sorta looks like the internet….it is the internet on your phone”.

We are now only a couple of days away from the 5th anniversary of the iPhone and the big question is, what does Apple have in store for this special occasion? So far we know that Sprint and Virgin Mobile will be launching the pre-paid iPhone 4S on that date. Other rumors suggest that nothing would be more befitting than seeing the iPhone 5 announced on the 5th anniversary of the first iPhone, especially since we would see the iPhone 4S go pre-paid on that date as well.
