We have recently seen rumors of the much anticipated Google Nexus 7 tablet go into overdrive. The tablet has been in the limelight for sometime now but recent pictures of it that surfaced looks very similar to the very successful Samsung Galaxy S3 which launched this month – only larger. This of course is a shocker given that rumors suggested ASUS and not Samsung was going to produce it.
Purported Google Nexus 7 tablet pictures look like a big Samsung Galaxy S3
It was PhoneArena that leaked the images and they are reported to be drafts of press images, which were taken from a PC screen. The tablet is expected to be have a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and a 7 inch screen. The pictures show a glossy white device with curved corners and a camera on the front. Next to the camera there are also light sensors. It also looks as though there is an earpiece, though we are pretty baffled as to how you could use such a large device in a telephone capacity, and whether there is even a SIM slot so you could. We also cannot see a ‘home’ button on the device. All these details make it look like a doppleganger of the white Samsung Galaxy S3.
The device is suspected to be called the ‘Google Nexus Slate’ with a back that is ¾ aluminum and ¼ plastic at the top, allowing for 3G and 4G signals to be received. There is a large-lensed camera on the back of the tablet.
Rumors about the tablet also include that it will have the Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and shortly the Jellybean (4.1) which will have the new Google Maps, and potentially Google Earth, Street View, and some more 3D elements.
The pictures are quite low quality so it’s difficult to say much at the moment, but what we will say is that we are looking forward to seeing official pictures of the product to see if it really looks like a giant Samsung Galaxy S3. If anything, that position is saved for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
