Buy Samsung Galaxy S3 Or Wait For DROID RAZR HD?

Android fans are facing quite a dilemma when they want to purchase the most powerful smartphone out there. While the Samsung Galaxy S3 stands head and shoulders above all Android phones on the market, rumors and numerous leaks of the Motorola DROID RAZR HD are too enticing to ignore. Both are beautiful looking handsets which are packed with next-gen features and specs.

So the question is, should you just go ahead and order the Samsung Galaxy S3 which will be available here in the US by the end of the month or should you wait for Verizon to officially announce the Motorola DROID RAZR HD first (expected to be right around the corner now)? Let’s take a look at what the Samsung Galaxy S3 has to offer and what we’ve seen so far from the Motorola DROID RAZR HD rumor mill.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Motorola DROID RAZR HD

The first consideration is the back of the handsets. The RAZR HD comes with Kevlar backing which provides durability and rigidity to the phone. The Samsung Galaxy S3 on the other hand looks slightly plastic-ky and while it feels ok, Kevlar is the more impressive of the duo.

Motorola also seem to do a better job when it comes to accessories, such as multimedia docks and accessories for the car. This is something to consider if you use your phone as your Sat-Nav or want the possible option of getting a laptop dock and using it as a netbook.

Moving on, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a physical button which is rather old school taking into consideration that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has abandoned the need for it. Whereas the Motorola DROID RAZR HD relies on Android 4.0 on-screen keys just like the Galaxy Nexus, giving Android room to grow.

Then there is battery life on the phone. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a 2,100mAh battery which has to power the large 4.8-inch screen. On the other hand the Motorola DROID RAZR HD has a slightly smaller 4.6-inch display and a whopping 3300mAh battery just like its predecessor, the RAZR MAXX that’s been heralded for its awesome battery life.

The next consideration is TouchWiz interface or Blur? This of course is just a matter of choice and some will not care one way or the other. Personally, I would pick the new Blur as seen on the leaked videos of the Motorola DROID RAZR Android 4.0 update. Not only does it embrace the blue overtones of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (Samsung still has a lot of Gingerbread’s green in its UI) but it also appears to keep more of ICS’s holo UI intact.

Lastly, the camera is often the deal breaker and the Motorola purportedly comes with a 13-megapixel camera as opposed to the 8 megapixel on the Samsung Galaxy S3. So which will you go for, the Samsung Galaxy S3 or wait a little longer for the Motorola RAZR HD and see how many of these rumors turn out to be true?
