Samsung Galaxy Note Rival Boasts Android 4.0, Cheaper

There have been many imitations of some of the leading smartphones including iPhone and Blackberry lookalikes and now it’s the turn of the Samsung Galaxy Note. A device at the PC Show 2012 tech fair in Singapore was seen in the halls and it looked very much like the Samsung Galaxy Note except for the very attractive price tag of $218 US dollars.

Ainol Android boasts price tag half that of the Samsung Galaxy Note & Android 4.0 ICS

The device said to be just called the Ainol Android right now, runs the latest version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as opposed to Android 2.3 Gingerbread like the Galaxy Note. The user interface looked as though it took inspiration from the HTC Sense with the 3D box effect as you scroll through the home screens on the device. The handset is 3G and it has dual SIM and is fitted with a mobile TV tuner. The battery is 2,500 mAh just like the Samsung Galaxy Note but the screen size is smaller than that of the Note at 5 inches instead of 5.3-inches.

One has to marvels at how Ainol have managed to release a device that looks to be a cross between the Note and the HTC Sense along with including numerous other features into the device at the same time and for a price tag of just over $200. However in all fairness the device will probably not match up to the Note, but for the price who expects it to and who would complain about getting their hands on a phablet for $218.

On a side note, rumors of a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have began to circulate. Speculations point to similar specs as the Samsung Galaxy S3 but with a larger display (5.5-inches) and stylus support. If rumors serve true, we should see the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 land sometime this fall.
