Upcoming Motorola Phones 2012: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint & T-Mobile

We have heard from our sources at PocketNow that Motorola are planning a number of smartphones for some US carriers. There will apparently be one smartphone for Verizon, two with AT&T, and one for Sprint. Strangely, there are no reported plans for T-Mobile USA which is the fourth largest US carrier. T-Mobile US also previously partnered for Motorola CLIQ with MOTO BLUR which was the first Android launch a number of years back.

Upcoming Motorola Phones 2012: Verizon, AT&T & Sprint

So far it sounds to us like Verizon will be working with the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, which is a much anticipated phone, also known for its Droid Fighter code name. It has seen recently on the Cellebrite system, with the model no. ZT926. The Droid RAZR is also rumored to have a 720p HD display, along with 4G LTE, a dual core processor and an upgraded camera module.

The word on the grapevine for AT&T is that they will get two Motorola phones for the LTE network. The first is unofficially named the Motorola Asanti, model number XT898, and is expected to posses a landscape slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This should be more like the Motorola Droid 4 than the Droid RAZR HD with regards to specs, and is reported to have a qHD res display.

The second device that we are expecting to see with AT&T is unofficially named Dinara, model number MB866. This will come in a typical slate form, without a hardware keyboard. We are thinking that it may come in the wake of the Motorola Atrix 2, a 4G HSPA+ device.

Lastly, the Motorola Photon 4G successor is expected to go with Sprint. It will be named the Photon Q 4G LTE and will support the recently developed 4G LTE network that Sprint now offer, instead of the 4G WiMax that we saw on the Photon 4G. Some are speculating that the Q stands for QWERTY as the device will support a QWERTY keyboard, but the keyboard will be a candybar form front-keyboard like the Motorola Q as opposed to the Asanti.

There were a number of Motorola models named that we haven’t heard of also mentioned in PN’s story. This may be because the devices are international. They include the following: the Motorola Primus XT621 as well as the Yangtze XT881, XT885, XT886, XT889, and MT887. There is nowhere specifying release dates for these items, but we believe based on a summer launch for the Photon 4G previously, that its successor the Photon Q 4G may be announced shortly as we are fast approaching summer 2012.

As Google has just closed the Motorola Mobility acquisition, these devices could be the first to be released by Motorola as owned by Google.
