It’s happened to all of us – we’ve bought the latest Android superphone and then a few months later it’s out-specced and swamped by the likes of the HTC One X and the imminent Samsung Galaxy S3. You, however, are still tied to your two-year contract. So what do you do? If you’re more interested in form than function, you can get the flashable theme pack that will turn CyanogenMod 9 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus into a Samsung Galaxy S3 lookalike.
Samsung Galaxy S3 goodies for Galaxy Nexus thanks to CM9 add-on
Developed by XDA, this add-on package features all the elements of the Samsung Galaxy S3 that have been leaked so far. The biggest feature is the latest TouchWiz launcher, and the pack also adds Galaxy S3 apps like S-Voice, icons and wallpapers, among others. You’ll also find a few bonus features like the Apollo music player.
Although this add-on is designed for CyanogenMod 9, it may work with similar ROMs like AOKP. If you are going to try to use it with something different, do a Nandroid backup first – although you shouldn’t need to be told that! The add-on is a compilation of apps and media, and so it should work with all the Galaxy Nexus variants and network providers. Have fun with this add-on and remember that it could be saving you up to $600!… (sort of).
On a side note, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to hit the US by the end of June. However unlike the international model that launched yesterday, the US Samsung Galaxy S3 may feature dual-core processors and 4G LTE radios.
