AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 vs Samsung Galaxy Note: Fight!

The Samsung Galaxy Note and Nokia Lumia 900 are two of the hottest smartphones on AT&T at the moment. Boasting unique features of their own, one would think that it would be easy to pick out which one is better suited for you. Well it isn’t that simple so we have prepared a small comparison which pits the specs of both phones against one another. What’s the verdict? Read on.

Samsung Galaxy Note vs Nokia Lumia 900: Which is for you?

Design: While the Samsung Galaxy Note shares many design cues with the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Nokia Lumia 900 heralds a new form factor for Windows Phone devices in 2012. Dare we say, it may have even beaten the iPhone 4S in the looks department. Winner: Nokia Lumia 900

Screen: The Samsung Galaxy Note is all about the screen, boasting a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display which is the biggest in the industry. While the Nokia Lumia 900 boasts a new ClearBack technology, its 720p display doesn’t live up to the 1280×800 resolution of the Note. Winner: Samsung Galaxy Note

Moving on to the processor, the Nokia Lumia 900 goes with a single core 1.4GHz Scorpion while the Galaxy Note boasts a dual-core setup clocked at the same speed. Now you would think that this means the Samsung Galaxy Note would win hands down. Unfortunately that isn’t the case and it may have to do with Microsoft’s strict hardware requirements and how it ends up playing with the Windows Phone OS. We noticed that the Galaxy Note would stutter at times and not feel as ‘fluid’ as the Nokia Lumia 900. Here’s hoping Samsung fixes this with a patch and it isn’t some underlying problem to do with the stylus setup.

Platform: Widows Phone 7.5 is slick, beautiful and modern yet remaining user friendly. Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the other hand is a little more clunky but has more features and hence capabilities. Throwing in deep integration with Google products and a larger selection of apps, Android manages to remain ahead at this time.

In conclusion, while the Nokia Lumia 900 does show a lot of potential and we hope to see many more great Windows Phone devices in the future, at this time we wouldn’t recommend it over the Samsung Galaxy Note. the Note with its larger and sharper display, alongside what is possibly one of the best renditions we’ve seen of Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Touchwiz enhancements), is a perfect match.
