We’ve been avoiding this topic for as long as we can but with just 36 hours to go before the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S3, it was inevitable.
Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature dual-core processor (rumor)
The latest reports coming in by way of leaks hint that the Samsung Galaxy S3 may be the latest US phone to get the quad-core to dual-core throwback. The folks over at UberGizmo report that a recently leaked user-agent profile for a device codenamed SCH-I535 sounds like the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 is short of two cores:
“Granted there is no confirmed proof that the SCH-I535 device is actually Verizon’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, but the specifications as well as naming convention do point towards a very high probability of it happening. It will come with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, sporting a display that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, while it has the SCH-I5XX nomenclature that does follow other premium Samsung handsets on Verizon including the Galaxy Nexus (SCH-I515), Droid Charge (SCH-I510), and the original Galaxy S Fascinate (SCH-I500).”
The most obvious reason behind why Samsung may not be bringing the highly anticipated quad-core Exynos processor here to the US in the Samsung Galaxy S3 is incompatibility with LTE bands. We saw this with the HTC One X on AT&T already.
