Samsung Galaxy S3 Gets 3 New Friends: Verizon, AT&T & Sprint Variants… Or Just More Galaxy Branded Phones?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is now expected to be only weeks away from its official launch. Unlike the launch of its predecessors, there is an extra element of excitement this year thanks to rumors which suggest that Samsung plans to ‘pull an iPhone’ and possibly rollout the Galaxy S3 globally at the same time.

Samsung Galaxy S3 joined by 3 more Galaxy names, could they be Verizon, AT&T & Sprint variants?

In the past, folks here in the US had to wait up to 6 months before carriers like Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile got their variants of the device. This year however, if rumors serve true, the wait maybe cut down.

Now Samsung has gone ahead and applied for 3 additional Galaxy names: Metrix, Legend and Velvet. As the folks over at IntoMobile’s blog point out, “some of these names could be slated for carrier-specific versions of certain models. We’ve already seen every U.S. carrier having its own name for the original Samsung Galaxy S and as far as we can tell, a similar thing could repeat with the forthcoming Galaxy S III.”

Given that T-Mobile will likely be the only carrier which may be able run the international Samsung Galaxy S3 model with the least amount of ‘handicap’, we’re sure that Verizon, AT&T and Sprint users are waiting anxiously for any details as to when a Galaxy S3 variant that’s compatible with their network’s LTE bands is coming. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
