Given the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2, the hype behind its successor, the Galaxy S3 has reached mammoth proportions. Starting from way back last fall, rumors behind the Samsung Galaxy S3 have made the smartphone sound unbeatable, even though we know nothing about it.
Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X
However with the recent announcement of the HTC One X and shortly thereafter the HTC EVO 4G LTE for Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and its rumored specs don’t seem as unmatchable as before. Let’s take a look at the confirmed specs of the HTC One X and the rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy S3 real quick.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to boast a 1.8GHz quad-core Exynos processor and 2GB RAM. The HTC One X settles for a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. While the Samsung Galaxy S3 does sound more powerful, it is important to note that it may have its chipset swapped for dual-cores here in the US just like in the case of the HTC EVO 4G LTE due to LTE incompatibilities.
Next up is the display. Both boast almost equal screen sizes (4.7-inches) and 720p displays. One is LCD while the other AMOLED and it is a matter of personal preference which you prefer. The same can be said about the HTC Sense and TouchWiz UI overlays on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 respectively.
Next we move to the rear and check out the cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S3 may come with a 12-megapixel camera compared to the 8-megapixel shooter on the HTC One X. However HTC states that its 8-megapixel camera is better than the others on the market right now, even that of the iPhone 4S. It feature five levels of LED flash, automatic focus and recording and playback support for 1080p HD video, BSI sensor (for better low-light captures), simultaneous HD video and image recording, face and smile detection.
Lastly we check out the casing. The Samsung Galaxy S3 will purportedly boast a ceramic case similar to that of Rado watches. As nice as that sounds, the HTC One X boasts a polycarbonate casing that is said to be 3 times harder than stainless steel.
As awesome as the Samsung Galaxy S3 sounds, when analyzed it appears to be quite similar to the HTC One X in many ways. Given the likelihood the HTC One X will release ahead of the Galaxy S3 here in the US, HTC will no doubt steal some of the spotlight.
