While the New iPad ‘3’ appears to be the only tablet on the lips of tablet shoppers, things may be very different this summer. This week, there have been two major developments in the tablet world as far as rumors go. Read on.
New iPad nano and Google Nexus Android tablet tipped for 2012
According to famed Apple insider John Gruber, Apple is currently testing a 7.85 tablet in its labs, cleverly dubbed ‘iPad nano.’ While Gruber can’t confirm when we can expect this tablet to launch, he does explains how the 7.85-inch form factor puts the tablet at the same resolution as the original iPad and iPad 2, hence not requiring app developers to have to rewrite their apps to support the new screen size.
In addition to the iPad nano, rumors of the Google Nexus tablet took another turn this week. According to the folks over at The Verge, Google will reportedly be launching the tablet in July earliest. Now if you’re late to the party and are unclear as to what the Google Nexus tablet purportedly is, it is a pure Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet with a quad-core processor, 7-inch display and is comparable to the likes of the $199 Amazon Kindle Fire in terms of pricing.
While on the subject of prices, given that the New iPad 3 starts at $499, it is safe to assume that when (and if) the iPad nano hits Apple Stores, it should sit at a lower price tag. How low is still open to speculation but given that rumors say it won’t sport a Retina Display like the iPad 3, it may be safe to assume that it could even be in the $200-$300 range.
