HTC One X: Any Real Threat To The Samsung Galaxy S3?

Despite HTC officially confirming the specs of the HTC One X and now the HTC EVO 4G LTE on Sprint, Samsung has remained quiet about the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3.

HTC One X vs fabled Samsung Galaxy S3

In fact, all that we ‘know’ about the Samsung Galaxy S3 to date are based on rumors. So the question here is, is the HTC One X a threat to the fabled Samsung Galaxy S3? Yes and here is why.

Samsung hasn’t had the best reputation when it comes to launching their flagship Galaxy brand phones in a timely fashion here in the US. We saw that with the original Galaxy S and again last year with the Galaxy S2 which hit the US almost 6 months after its international release. With the HTC One X arguably the most powerful ‘announced’ smartphone on the market right now, many buyers in the US who are due for an upgrade will more than likely jump on one when it hits Sprint and AT&T, instead of waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Sure, Samsung could jump in just in time and announce the specs of its upcoming flagship phone, but that would only confirm what the international variant would have to offer (something that may possibly only hold true for the T-Mobile version here in the US).

Furthermore, if we were to take the Samsung Galaxy S3 rumors seriously, we would see that both smartphones have a lot in common with each other. Both boast quad-core processors (the Galaxy S3 may also have its quad-core swapped for dual-cores here in the US due to LTE compatibility issues), massive 4.7-inch 720p displays, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 8-megapixel rear shooters, 4G LTE, and NFC.

Would you continue to wait for more rumors about the specs of the US Samsung Galaxy S3 or will you pounce on the HTC One X when it hits stores here in the US? Sound off in the comments below.
