Last week, we wrote a story on the Windows Phone 7 launcher which was able to emulate the awesome looking Metro Tiles found in Windows Phone 7 devices. Not only did it turn your Android launcher into a deadringer for Windows Phone 7 but it also brought some WP7 features like the Application drawer, Picture hub and the accompanying transition effects.
Phoenix Launcher: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich style launcher
This week, we took a look at another launcher in the Google Play Store – Phoenix Launcher. While it isn’t as feature rich as the Windows Phone 7 launcher, it does replicate the UI of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in detail. Features include:
Choice between 3,5,7 or 9 workspaces; Set your favorite workspace as default; Enable/Disable wallpaper scroll; Choice between 2 hardware home key actions (workspace overview and “snap to default workspace”); Show or hide the workspace indicator; Enable or disable icon text backgrounds; ability to change dockbar style up to 9 different styles; Included all Android 4 image wallpapers; Folder support; Support for shortcuts; and enabled for LDPI, MDPI and HDPI devices.
So if you’re disappointed that your Android won’t be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, you can still get a taste of it everytime you unlock your phone.
