The two most talked about smartphones of 2012 are without a doubt the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3. And Big Red for one is expected to get both devices sometime this year given that they were the home to both the Verizon iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S.
While rumors suggest that we will not likely see the iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3 hit Big Red earlier than this summer, there are now two more ‘superphones’ to heat things up on Big Red.
At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, iPhone 4S and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX are the hottest smartphones on VZW. A recent leak now puts two new DROID smartphones headed to Big Red, both featuring specs that can match if not top the best that Big Red has to offer at the moment.
Motorola DROID Fighter and HTC DROID Incredible 4G
Starting with the Motorola DROID Fighter, this smartphone looks will no doubt kill RAZR MAXX sales. Taking the same 3,300mAh battery that is the best thing about the RAZR MAXX, it throws in a larger 4.6-inch HD display and on-screen buttons like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. According to the folks over at AndroidAndMe, the Motorola DROID Fighter could be one of the first phones with the new dual-core 1.8 GHz OMAP4470 that has a faster PowerVR SGX544 GPU. Its release date is tipped for April 12.
Verizon HTC DROID Incredible 4G
Rumored to hit shelves on April 26th, the HTC DROID Incredible 4G is one of the superphones HTC revealed back at MWC, however with some subtle changes. Rumored specs include a 1.2 GHz processor Snapdragon S4, qHD AMOLED display, 1 GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, front-facing VGA camera, 4G LTE, and Beats Audio. It will run Android 4.0 just like the DROID Fighter.A recent benchmark on Nenamark suggests that is packs the Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU.
The DROID Fighter looks like the better choice on paper so we will have to see where they stand in April when both are expected to officially be announced.
