George Hotz a.k.a GeoHot, has built a name for hacking some of the most popular devices on the planet. The 22-year-old hacker became famous for hacking the iPhone as well as the PS3. He also reportedly was headhunted by Facebook but apparently left the job shortly after.
Famed iPhone & PS3 hacker Geohot arrested on way to SXSW conference
ZDNet reports that George Hotz was arrested for possession of marijuana when he was pulled over on his way to the SXSW conference in Austin to give a talk dubbed “The Final Frontier of Reverse Engineering.” He was caught at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where one of the drug sniffing dogs barked at Hotz’s vehicle.
While Hotz has a medical license for marijuana in California, the “chocolate edibles” he had with him were over the limit as the arresting office took the whole weight of the chocolate and valued it at $800, instead of the $15 Hotz claimed it cost him.
There is no doubt that he can get this felony charge reversed if he wants. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
