With the New iPad 3 pre-orders already pushing the next-generation Apple tablet’s shipping times by a further 2 to 3 weeks, sales are looking very promising for the tablet.
New iPad 3 to further increase gap between Apple and Android tablet sales
Canaccord Securities analyst Mike Walkley reports that Apple will more than likely dominate the tablet market well into 2013. He points out that this is because of the iPad 3 and its leading hardware specs, competitive pricing and iOS developer and application ecosystems. He also adds that in their meetings with Android tablet vendors at MWC, the OEM’s indicated the difficulty in going up against the iPad 2, let alone the more powerful New iPad 3:
“We believe Apple has extended its leadership position in the fast growing tablet market, and we have increased our 2012 and 2013 iPad tablet share estimates… We believe the new iPad has raised the bar relative to competing tablets with impressive hardware specs, competitive pricing, and the leading software ecosystem of over 200k iPad-specific applications… At MWC, our meetings with Android OEMs focused on smartphones as tablet OEMs indicated difficulty competing with the iPad 2, let alone the new iPad.”
Walkley has raised his price target for Apple stock from $665 to $710.
