It has finally arrived folks! After months of speculation and various hints on Samsung’s Facebook page as well as leaks by various tech blogs, the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is now available in less than 24 hours.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update officially rolls out tomorrow
Now if you’ve never updated your Samsung Galaxy S2 before then you need to know a couple of things: You can upgrade your Galaxy S2 to Android Ice Cream Sandwich via KIES 2.0 or FOTA. So make sure you have the latest version of KIES (KIES 1.5 doesn’t cut it). As for updating via FOTA, you will need to download a huge firmware file on to your Samsung Galaxy S2 so the former method is preferred, although it is best you are on WiFi no matter which route you choose.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update (new features)
According to the Samsung website, you can look forward to these new features in your Samsung Galaxy S2 after the update: Face Unlock and Android Beam are added; Mobile Network Data usage function is added; Usability of multi-tasking and some applications is improved; and unfortunately because of Ice Cream Sandwich, Adobe flash and Bluetooth 3.0 HS will not be supported.
On a side note, this announcement doesn’t apply to the Samsung Galaxy S2 SkyRocket.
UPDATE: Samsung has just posted on Twitter that that their Galaxy S2 update announcement was posted in error by their Filipino arm. Sigh.
