Earlier this month, we began to receive reports that Samsung may be working on a variant of the Galaxy Nexus which was then dubbed the Galaxy Nexus 2. Just like how the Samsung Nexus S and original Galaxy S had almost identical hardware, this variant of the Galaxy Nexus was rumored to come with TouchWiz UI (meaning that it would not carry the ‘Nexus’ name). At the same time, we’ve been waiting to get a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S3, another one of Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices.
Is this a Samsung Galaxy Nexus variant or possibly a kin of the Samsung Galaxy S3?
Now the folks over at Droid-Life have posted pictures they received from an anonymous tipster who shows a device that looks awfully similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but according to the source the USB port is on the other side and the bezel is much thinner.
We’re not going to jump to any conclusions at this time and Droid-Life suggests that it is highly unlikely to be the Samsung Galaxy S3 but instead a predecessor. As for being a Galaxy Nexus variant, we have been waiting for one to arrive on AT&T so here’s another possibility. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
Update: Droid-Life appears to have deleted their page about this supposed Galaxy S3 predecessor / Samsung Galaxy Nexus variant. Go figure.
