The Apple iPad 3 is now less than a day away from its official launch and as expected, more details are beginning to surface on what we can possibly expect from the next-generation Apple tablet.
iPad 3 to be introduced with ‘Smart Case’ accessories
According to a report published by iLounge editor, Jeremy Horowitz, Apple is working on a “Smart Case” to for the iPad 3 which will replace the popular Smart Cover that was introduced with the iPad 2:
“Said to be similar to Incase’s Magazine Jacket (and a host of subsequent alternatives that have appeared for the iPad 2), this new case has a folding magnetized Smart Cover on the front, and a rear shell made from fiberglass covered with PU/bicast leather. It’s unclear whether this case will be solely for the thicker new iPad or include backwards compatibility for the iPad 2.”
Given that the biggest complaints about the iPad 2 Smart Cover was that it left the rear of your tablet open to scuffs and scratches, this rumored iPad 3 smart case may be just what users need. No word yet on whether it will be compatible with the iPad 2 at this point given that the iPad 3 is expected to be thicker than its predecessor.
