While the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is still considered fresh on the market, the folks over at CNET report that Google may already planning to roll out the next Nexus device, in this case it is a 7-inch tablet.
Next Google Nexus device coming as early as April?
CNET is basing its Google Nexus tablet rumors on the word of Richard Shim, an analyst for the firm DisplaySearch, who states that the tablet will be going into production this April. Shim points out that Google plans to kick off the first production cycle with a target of between 1.5 million and 2 million units. The report also adds that the Google Nexus tablet will boast a 1280 x 800 resolution which trumps that of the Amazon Kindle Fire, one of the fastest selling Android tablets on the market right now.
This of course isn’t the first time we have heard of Google working on a tablet to compete with the Kindle Fire as the folks over at DigiTimes brought this up back in January too.
There has been a market for small Android tablets ever since the original Samsung Galaxy Tab and there are even reports that the next-generation iPad (iPad 3?) may also be offered in a 7-inch variant.
