Resident Evil 7: What Capcom Must Do To NOT Screw It Up

Just a month after the release of the Resident Evil 6, game developer Capcom was quick to set things back in motion in developing the Resident Evil 7 (RE7). The 6th title to the Resident Evil franchise received a lot of criticism from fans as the traditional gameplay seemed non-existent. It is still unknown if the voices of the fans are heard.

There are many ways for Capcom to ensure the success for the upcoming Resident Evil 7. Firstly, the game developer needs to restore back the game’s trademark pure horror survival gameplay instead of a straight action game. Fans are disappointed by the fact that there aren’t any more thrills to the Resident Evil titles. The very least Capcom could do is follow the RE Revelations template. It has a perfect balance of action and classic survivor horror feel. Of course it will be better if the entire template is based on the first Resident Evil.

Secondly, Capcom must not force fan into playing co-op. The idea of a co-operative gameplay is alright if executed properly. It can be really fun just like Mercenaries. However, Capcom must stop forcing it like how it was in the last two titles.

Finally is the boss battle. Apparently there are too much bullet-sponge bosses throughout the game. It gets boring to spray your entire magazine on a boss that would absorb them all. There is no other approach in getting past them which is really disappointing. On top of that, cut down on quick-time events. The RE6 is already bad enough but to keep straying away from the storyline simply made it torturing.

With that said, we hope Capcom will take into account all of it and ensure a delightful experience with Resident Evil 7.
