Some months ago, Bioware announced on the development of Mass Effect 4 which created a huge buzz within the Mass Effect community. It wasn’t all good news for the fans upon learning that Commander Shepard will no longer feature in the much-successful series.
Shepard had been the protagonist throughout the first trilogy and such an announcement caught the fans off guard. Despite Shepard heading for the retirement home, fans are excited with the prospect of a fresh, brand new storyline.
In spite of that, Mass Effect 4 will be set in the same universe and will offer that trademark Mass Effect gameplay. While it might be a totally new storyline, fans have been wondering if the upcoming adventure will take place before, during or after Shepard’s era.
Many fans agreed that Mass Effect 4 will most likely be a prequel to the first trilogy. This is due to the short development time. Hence, making a prequel is much faster as the outcome is already revealed in the Mass Effect trilogy.
Another set of fans completely disagree with this theory. While it might be easier to make a prequel, there won’t be any surprise factor thus making Mass Effect 4 predictable. This group of passionate fans wants it set far into the future where there won’t be a single trace of information coming from the Mass Effect trilogy.
No matter how it might turn out to be, fans can definitely expect a great title coming their way. In a matter of time, Bioware will roll out Mass Effect 4 and expect it to arrive with a brand new look to cater both the Xbox One and PS4.
