One of the biggest modern day unsolved mysteries is certainly with the Half Life 3 game. For more than 10 years, fans have been waiting for Valve to release this third and final sequel to the franchise. However, nothing has presented itself as of yet.
The latest rumour suggests that Half Life 3 is being put on hold until Oculus completes the development of its upcoming VR headset, Rift. If you’re a stranger to this, Oculus is a tech developer that is currently creating the future of video games. The Oculus Rift is expected to be that shift from digital gaming to virtual reality gaming in the near future.
At the moment, the project has progressed fairly well. Currently, a beta version of SteamVR is already demonstrating the future of gaming. In addition to that, many games are known to be tested on the Rift. However, none of them are AAA games.
Getting back on track, Oculus has been working with Valve for this project. The game developer saw the prospects of the VR headset and immediately shook hands with the tech developer. Once the Rift is out, Sony and Microsoft will surely be threatened as Valve will have the power to monopolize the gaming industry.
With such an invention, it is only right for the Rift VR headset to have its own launch title. There is no denying that Half Life 3 will make a great game to tag on the Rift. After all, both Valve and Oculus has been working in secrecy. Anything secretive must have something to do with Half Life 3.
Of course, this is still a rumour so do take it lightly. As mentioned earlier, the duo is working behind the curtain. Until those curtains open, then we will know more on this.
