It is 2014 now and there is still no sign or even the slightest of hint on Half Life 3. Fans have been waiting for a decade to see this third sequel coming for a release and that wait will continue for much longer.
While waiting for Half Life 3 to materialize, fans can look forward to a live-action film based on the Half Life franchise. Both Chariotdrive and Infectious Designer are collaborating with each other to develop an independent Half Life movie known as, The Freeman Chronicles.
Gordon Freeman will be the protagonist in this action, thriller and horror film. The best part is that the entire thing is a non-profit project. Chariotdrive have been calling for the fans and even non-gamers to support this project. It was revealed on Kickstarter that these film makers are asking for donations to fund the movie and fans can show their support by donating as little as a dollar.
The money will be spent on things like props, talent and video editing. Of course, the bigger the budget, the better the quality of the film will be. Chariotdrive revealed that they needed a minimum of $12,000 for this Half Life movie. Astonishingly, the support got so great that the filmmakers have received $20,000 already. That is almost double of their target.
With 15 days left in this charity drive, the filmmaker is now hoping for $25,000. If this can be achieved, Chariotdrive will call in CGI experts, Vortigaunts. Those who can’t afford to donate can still show their support by promoting this project across their social networks.
If you’re worried that Valve might step up and kill the hype with copyright threats, you can relax as the game developer is known to be a strong supporter of indie projects. On the other hand, the threat is on them for not launching Half Life 3.
