While the Detroit Auto Show is just around the corner, the folks over at Chevrolet have decided to jump the gun and unveil their B-segment next generation Aveo which has been dubbed Sonic.

Expected to officially debut at NAIAS 2012, the Sonic will only go on sale later this year, with the RS variant only available in a 5-door hatchback construction (no RS sedan).
Other features exclusive to the Chevrolet Sonic RS will include front sport seats, beefier steering wheel with flat bottom, new shift knob, aluminum sport pedals, customized instrument panel graphics and RS-specific interior trim colour. On the exterior we will find a deep air dam design and vertical intakes at the edges of the hatchback which will be home to the fog lamps.
Engine-wise, it will still sport the same 1.4L Ecotec turbo which pushes out 138 hp and 200 Nm torque in 6-speed manual and auto option. Well enough chatter, check out the first image of the Chevrolet Sonic RS to break cover.
