The 2015 Volvo XC90 – Detailed Look [PICS]

Even though it’s not out until next year, the looks, specs and price tag of the Volvo XC90 has been let out!

The seven-seater Volvo VC90 will have a new grille form, with slimmer headlights. It’s the first car to be built on Scalable Platform Architecture and will have 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and diesel Drive-e engines. As well as the four wheel drive option, there’s also a front wheel drive version.

The XC90’s 187bhp D4 engine does 74.3mpg and emits 99g/km of CO2. The petrol engine does 47.9mpg and lets out 137/km. The XC90 will have an eight-speed auto gearbox, as well as all the passive safety and collision avoidance systems present on all Volvos. It also has a 9.3” touchscreen to control all its tech features, like sat-nav, audio, climate and car settings.

Inside there’s soft leather and wood and there’s a hand-crafted crystal glass gear stick. The media in the car is controlled by the touchscreen or the controls on the steering wheel. There’ll be internet radio and music streaming apps pre-loaded and in terms of audio the system is from Bowers and Wilkins – it’s a 12-channel HARMAN 1,400 watt amp which supplies no fewer than 19 speakers.

Of course, as we’re talking about Volvo, there’s safety a-go-go. The roll cage is made from several steel grades and there’s the new adaptive cruise control and steering assist. Radar and sensor tech helps to prevent accidents, especially when reversing.

This car is coming out next year and starts at £40,000.
