When it comes to picking the right large, luxury SUV, and consumers often found themselves trapped in a dilemma between the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport and BMW X5. All three vehicles have their own set of offerings but which is the best of the trio?
The BMW X5, in particular is the newest of them all. The third-generation vehicle made its debut last month and it looks to claim back the luxury SUV market with the tons of improvements that the car is equipped with.
For starters, the X5 has a larger interior space that is more luxurious than ever. The vehicle is basically has more room for the third-row seats than the Range Rover Sport. Unfortunately, the Cayenne is only a 5-seater.
Furthermore, the X5 is the only SUV from the three options to be both family and environment friendly. BMW is offering the X5 with a choice of three different diesel engines and a petrol engine option.
In terms of handling, the X5 performs decently but it couldn’t offer something better than the Cayenne. The latter is simply sublime as it takes on the corners and bends like an average sports car. The Cayenne has the best body control, an engaging steering and total grip. In addition to that, the SUV weighs 5kg less than the X5, while also being powered by the V8.
Out in the wilderness, it is a totally different contest. All three SUVs are able to handle hill climbs with ease as they are equipped with hill descent control, high ground clearance and adjustable suspensions. However, it is the Range Rover Sport that stands above the rest as it comes with the Terrain Response system from Land Rover.
All three SUVs are simply put, exhilarating in their own way. As such, we couldn’t decide on the winner. Consumers will have to decide for themselves based on their preferences. For off-road enthusiasts, there is the Range Rover Sport. For speed lovers, there is the Porsche Cayenne. If consumers are looking for an all-rounder, the BMW X5 will make the perfect car.
