Mitsubishi and Nissan Collaborate For Mini EVs

Two Japanese automakers, Mitsubishi and Nissan are collaborating for the minicar project. The project that was launched four years ago will get more resources to simplify a move into the electric-vehicle sector.

Specifically, Nissan will have a bigger role in the joint-venture since it produced the all-electric Nissan Leaf. Nissan will be responsible in the design, testing and the development of the mini EVs’ partnership.

About 500, 000 gas-powered three-cylinder compact cars were sold under the two automotive brands. The mini EV is said to be price at less than $15,000 in Japan, cheaper than the Nissan Leaf and the i-MiEV.

The future minicar variants will be produced at Mitsubishi’s Mizushima factory in Japan. So far, there’s no specific news about the NMKV’s next-generation mini EV details, so we have to wait for the details to be released.
