LG Nexus 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S5: Son Of Android vs Gladiator

The Samsung Galaxy S5 had just been released and it is regarded as one of the best smartphones in the market right now. Apparently, a similar remark was made for the LG Nexus 5 when the device got released late last year. Between the two smartphones, which is better?

Putting both devices side-by-side, the S5 is the larger of the two as it houses a 5.1” screen that runs at 432ppi. While the S5 might have the brighter screen, it is the Nexus 5 that is sharper as the phone’s 4.95” display offers 445ppi.

The S5 might have a larger 2800mAh battery when compared to the 2300mAh on the Nexus 5 but since it has a larger screen, the former drains power at a faster rate.

Under the casings, the Nexus 5 is powered by the 2.2GHz 4-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. While this is impressive, it is not as good as the newer hardwares found on the S5. The latter runs on the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU.

The Nexus 5 comes equipped with a basic 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front shooter. While it may be decent, it the cameras are never in the same league as the 16MP rear and 2.1MP front snappers being offered on the S5. Furthermore, the S5 is capable of shooting videos at 4K format, which is something the Nexus 5 can’t do.

The S5 is also packed with so many functions and features like microSD support and also dust and water resistant, which makes it the more appealing smartphone. Obviously, the S5 is the better smartphone but considering the fact that it is double the price of the Nexus 5, is it worth it?
