Honda Accord vs 2015 Hyundai Sonata: Fully Locked And Loaded

Anyone who reads the title here may think that we have lost our minds. Can you really compare the Honda Accord and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata? Well with the Sonata now in the 6th generation we can as the vehicle does have to be taken a lot more seriously than it once was. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata comes locked and loaded but how does it compare to the Honda Accord?

The Honda Accord and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata both offer the 2.4 litre engine with 4 cylinders and it gives out 185 horses. The weight difference between them is 6lbs and the difference in length is just a quarter of an inch. The Hyundai offers the 6 speed automatic and Honda have put in the CVT.

This does happen to be one of the best on the market as the CVT is flawless. When you have been driving it for some time you will not be able to tell any difference between it and a standard automatic engine. The engine on the 2015 Hyundai Sonata is also flawless, however it is let down by the fact that the fuel economy isn’t as good as that offered by the Honda Accord. You will get roughly 24mpg when driving in the city and out on the highway it is around 35mpg the Honda offers around 27mpg in the city and 36mpg for highway driving.

The style of the Hyundai Sonata is on the conservative side and it will age well. It offers plenty of leg room but it cannot beat that offered by the Honda Accord. The Sonata interior offers controls that are easy to reach and it is elegant. However there are some things that you cannot get on the Honda that the Sonata offers. For instance it comes with bucket seats in the front that are heated and cooled, it has the heated steering wheel and bigger trunk. It also offers a panoramic sunroof. On the downside is the plastic throughout the cabin that is hard and a piece on the centre stack that is ill fitting.

The cabin of the Honda Accord is laid out very well and it offers two displays for navigation and audio. It is a user friendly cabin but one of the biggest issues is the speedometer which is blocked by the steering wheel.

If you choose to go with the 2015 Hyundai Sonata you will have to pay out $21, 960. The Honda Accord has a price tag of $22, 745 attached to it. You can get the Accord EX-L with navigation with the price tag of $30, 835 or the Hyundai Sonata Limited costs $32, 385.

The Honda Accord comes out on top of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata due to the fact that it isn’t as efficient, it’s more expensive and the seating isn’t as comfortable. This is a small gap though and the choice between the two is down to you.
