Volkswagen has already confirmed that they will be refreshing the Golf R with a facelift model that is due to arrive in 2016. This upcoming vehicle is also revealed to come with and estate-liked body that will look to appeal the masses.
Earlier today, VW spilled more details by sharing that the Golf R will be running on the Haldex 5 AWD system. The hatch is powered by 2.2L turbocharged mill and is driven with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
As such, car junkies can look forward to a total of 292hp generated by the Golf R facelift. The vehicle will be able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Design-wise, the Golf R facelift will adopt a modern vintage look as VW vows to integrate the styling from the 1989 Rally Golf with the upcoming vehicle. Details on this are still scarce at the moment but it won’t be long until VW unveils the facelift’s concept vehicle.
