If you are a fan of the Volkswagen Golf R, then you should re-visit last year’s Beijing Auto Show. This is because VW has confirmed yesterday that the Golf R Facelift that is due to arrive next year will be based on the concept Golf model that was unveiled at the motoring event.
This means that the future Golf R will be looking to restore the spirit of the old 1989 Rally Golf. The future Facelift model will be wearing a lemon yellow paintjob while also coming with a silver interior.
Under the hood, the Golf R Facelift will be powered by a 2.2L turbocharged engine that is mated to 7-speed DSG transmission all while driving on the Haldex5 AWD system. In figures, the Golf R Facelift will have 292hp in hand and it will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in about 3.9 seconds.
The VW Golf R Facelift will be making its debut next year and when it arrives, the sports hatch will look to compete with likes of the Ford Focus RS.
