Toyota was excited to announce that they have produced a new engine for the next-gen Auris and it is a 1.2L turbocharged 4-cylinder unit. This new engine can generate 116hp which is really decent if the Auris is being used in the city.
Toyota claims that the 1.2L engine can rival the fuel consumption rate of a diesel engine. However, it is not cheap to own since drivers have to fork out about $800 more if compared to the pricing of the 1.3L DVVT-i engine.
Unfortunately, Toyota didn’t share any fuel consumption figures so there is no way to tell on how great the Auris is going to be. If it can rival a diesel setup, then the Auris might just be able to achieve more than 50mpg on average.
