LG G2: Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Not As Good As This

Yes, LG might have already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for the old G2 but the firmware came together with tons of issues like crashes, freezes and also bugs. Now, there is a cure for this and it is available only at XDA.

Developer Rashed97 has released a custom ROM containing the Android 5.0 Lollipop and it is designed specifically for the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 variants. The thing is that the unofficial firmware is now free of any major issues and it is stable to run on the G2.

This is perfect since the existing Lollipop for the G2 is considered as broken. The custom ROM will replace the Lollipop OS with one that is fault-free. While not official, the Lollipop is worth the installation on the G2.

If you are a G2 user and wish to give the custom ROM a try, you can refer to our simplified instructions below:

Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.

Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
