Over the recent years, the Ford Fiesta has been dominating the hatchback segment and was also named as car of the year in various countries. Now, this streak is being challenged by the upcoming Opel Corsa.
Like the Fiesta, the Corsa is built with a deceiving weak but stylish look. Even so, the latest hatch came out with its own thunder. Taking the top-of-the-range Corsa OPC model, the vehicle is powered by the 204-hp, 1.6-liter turbo engine mated to a six-speed manual.
This develops 207ft-lbs of torque and it translates to a 0-62mph sprint in just 6.8 seconds. Heck, there is also a top speed of 143mph.
The OPC trim gives the Corsa a full aero kit, a lowered suspension, 214/45 R17 tires, and an ESP system that can be switched off entirely.
Also, it is worth noting that the Corsa OPC recorded impressive lap times at the Nurnbergring. Clearly this is a huge warning for the Fiesta ST. On the downside of things, the Corsa OPC is aimed at the European market and won’t get launched here in the US.
